Everything You Need to Know About Save the Dates

wedding planning Mar 19, 2019
When it comes to wedding invitations I wanted to know the essentials from the best in the biz. So I asked Alison Hazinski, the amazingly talented artist, stationer and owner behind One Only Paper,  a bespoke paper and custom invitation company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, to help me breakdown only the need to know about Save the Dates to get you sharing your wedding details ASAP.
Save the dates are cards you send out in advance of your wedding invitations, inviting guests to save your wedding date. Since wedding invitations are traditionally sent out 6-8 weeks before your wedding, save the dates are particularly helpful when you have a lot of out of town guests who will need to make travel arrangements, or if you have a lot of friends who will be getting married around the same time.

  1. Who you are

5 Truths About How Wedding Planners Can Save You Money

wedding planning Feb 28, 2019

Can a Wedding Planner really save you money? Well as a wedding planner, I really hope so, but it isn’t so easy to quantify in dollars and cents.

I think that when people ask this question they are hoping that the wedding planner will have a network of secret connections all over town and because they work with this one planner they will get 10% off here or 20% off there. Like an assumed discount everywhere they go because they are working with that specific planner.

I have never worked like this and honestly, don’t know anyone who has. There is nothing legit in my book about getting kickbacks for referring services to vendors. Because that’s what the discount would be. The client would get the discount and the vendor would give that discounted amount to the wedding planner for referring them the business. Would you want to work with someone who was padding their wallet double by working with you? No, I wouldn’t. It just doesn’t...

My Makeover Experience at Sephora

just for fun Jan 24, 2019
It has been a long time since I really cared about how my makeup looked. That’s not to say I don’t care, but I’ve always been the kind of person who has a very strong sense of self and confidence with and without the primping so it’s not always necessary for me.
Time is also a factor, since I’d had my first baby, about 3 years ago the amount of free time that I’ve had and the priority of me doing my makeup well, has gone way down. It’s like, let’s figure out what my 5 minute makeup routine is and do that twice a week.
I have made the decision to be in front of the camera more for my business and I truly want to put my best face forward. Well, putting my best face forward means that I needed to update what I do for my makeup routine.
Sephora has always been my go to place to find what I’m looking for in the makeup department because well, they have almost everything a girl could need....

Garden, loose, textured, organic, all of these words describe our favorite style of bouquet. Here we've rounded up the best of these floral garden inspired beauties and want to share them with you.

P.S. - We intentionally tried to find bouquets that had in-season spring flowers. This makes it easy to share with your florist and have them say, "we can do that!" Don’t forget about a the tiny thing that might make a huge difference in whether or not your hair, makeup and wedding day timeline actually get executed the way that you have it in your head.

I’ve seen it before when brides don’t think they need to make a schedule and think that just winging it will work.  Oh, darling… well, sometimes it does work and sometimes it doesn’t. When you’re ready to start planning your epic, awesome wedding things can change a little bit because knowing where to start is often confusing. The 5 Rules for How to Write an Amazing Wedding Toast

Uncategorized Jun 14, 2018

I have seen hundreds of people give a wedding toast in my 6 years as a wedding planner. Most of them were okay, not truly memorable, but more importantly not so cringe worthy that we’re all embarrassed for you, and internally asking you to please put the mic down and walk away.

The greatest toast that I’ve ever heard was given by a groom’s big brother, who was an actor. No surprise, that someone who speaks professionally for a living gives a great toast.

The elements that made his toast great were: 1. that he had it all memorized 2. he had a commanding presence in the middle of the room 3. he knew how to use a mic (a very underrated skill) and  4. left everyone in the room laughing and crying, even me. It was truly ta great speech and I want to hear more toasts like that.

So, from my self-proclaimed expert opinion, here are my 5 rules for how to give an amazing wedding toast:

1. Introduce yourself & describe your relationship to the...
